Zen & Yoga Mini Retreat

Ashtanga Yoga Baltmore invites you to our first Zen & Yoga Mini Retreat.

In addition to training and practice in Ashtanga Yoga, our teacher Ben has also trained in the Soto Zen Buddhism lineage. This mini retreat merges these complimentary practices together to provide an exploration of Beginner’s Mind and dynamic stillness through seated meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), and yoga asana practices.

The schedule will be as follows:

8:45 am - Arrive

9-9:10 am - Meditation (zazen) instruction

9:10-9:30 am - Seated meditation

9:30-9:40 am - Walking meditation

9:40-10 am - Seated meditation

10-11 am - Yoga asana

11-11:20 am - Seated meditation

11:20-11:30 am - Walking meditation

11:30 am-11:55 am - Seated meditation

11:55 am-12 pm - Loving Kindness meditation chant & closing remarks

12-12:30 pm - Coffee and snacks (provided!)

This workshop is perfect for students who are new to yoga and meditation and for those with more extensive experience. Please bring your own meditation cushion and yoga mat if you have them (we will have limited supplies of each). Previous experience with Ashtanga and/or meditation is NOT REQUIRED! About Ben

 

Ben Culver has been practicing and teaching yoga for over a decade. He maintains a daily Ashtanga practice and studied at the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute with Saraswati Jois for two months during the summer of 2017. He has also studied and practiced with many experienced teachers, including Mati Guerra, Vance Selover, David Garrigues, Kino MacGregor, Christine Hoar, and David Keil. He also lived and trained at San Francisco Zen Center’s Green Gulch for two years. The practices mean a lot to him, and he feels fortunate to have the opportunity to share it with others.
